Dr. Sunkyu Park is an EJ Woody Rice Associate Professor at the Department of Forest Biomaterials, North Carolina State University and recognized as University Faculty Scholar. He received Ph.D. from North Carolina State University and BS from Seoul National University. After working as a postdoctoral researcher in DOE National Renewable Energy Laboratory, he joined North Carolina State University as an Assistant Professor in 2009.
Dr. Park’s research covers a broad spectrum of biorefinery development to produce biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials from lignocellulosic biomass. He is focused on both the fundamental understanding of lignocellulosic biomass reactivity and process development based on techno-economic analysis. Over 30 research projects have been conducted since 2009 and supported by federal agencies (DOE, USDA, NSF), state agencies, and private industries. He has over 70 peer-reviewed publications.
